Mere Lomaloma passes away

Former FM96 breakfast host and Viti FM programs director Mere Lomaloma has passed away peacefully in Auckland this morning after suffering from blood cancer.
Her sister Sereima Lomaloma while confirming Mere Lomaloma's death this afternoon, stressed that her sister was diagnosed with Cancer in November last year in San Fransisco, and the doctors told her that she only had three months to live.
However, she said that Mere's faith in god gave her courage to fight the disease, and she lived for eight months before passing away at her home today.
Mere Lomaloma who would have turned 50 this September, has worked as a Pacific Health Promoter for Breast Cancer Association in New Zealand.
She was well known for her breakfast show with Lulu Buksh, known as "The Mere and Lulu Show on FM96" in the late 80s and 90s.
When Viti FM radio station started in 1996, Communications Fiji Ltd Managing Director William Parkinson said he appointed Mere Lomaloma as the first programs director to bring in new ideas which changed the Fijian listeners format.
Parkinson said it is devastating to lose someone with so much energy and vitality.

Mere is survived by her husband Paul Elliot and four children. Her funeral service will be held this Saturday in Auckland New Zealand.
