Are There Any Hidden Messages in the Torah?

People can become fascinated with the Bible when they hear about men talking about the Bible having or containing some form of secret code or hidden messages. Their interest peeks – wanting to know if it can predict such things as the death of John F. Kennedy and the end of the world.

God’s Word is Truth

However, according to Romans 15:4, 'For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning …' which means that the Bible, including the Torah, speaks of the things pertaining to or relating to the time of the end – things written for us to learn from. This learning is for our spiritual growth and development of the true Christian, or the one who has received the Spirit of God and is striving to live God’s way.

As stated in 2 Timothy 3:16, ‘All scripture including the Torah is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine … for correction for instruction in righteousness.’ This means that the Bible, including the Torah, has been inspired by God and is profitably used for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

Secret Torah Code: A Misconception

The idea that some man or group of people or researchers may believe they have found some secret code in the Torah does tend to appeal to the thought process of people, especially those who may not have any prior interest in the Bible. They are curious about what these researchers have to say, but when it comes down to it, they are not interested in the truth of the Bible, as God reveals it; they are more interested in the so-called findings or beliefs of men and what they claim.

The True Revelation or Understanding of the Bible

In truth, the revelation or true understanding of the Bible is revealed by the Spirit of God to those who obey God and are truly converted, having His Holy Spirit. God is not going to reveal spiritual truth to people who are not living in accordance with His will. Romans 8:9 makes known that ‘if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.’ This means the unconverted man is not going to have the revelation or the ability to understand God’s truth.

As stated in 1 Corinthians 2:14, 'The natural [unconverted] man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Supposedly Secret Torah Code

The Bible is a coded book, and it can be likened to a jigsaw puzzle, with many scattered pieces or parts that need to be put together to make the puzzle fit. Many truths of the Bible are further enhanced and made clearer in different parts of the Bible. For example, in Revelation 1:16, Christ is described as holding seven stars in His right hand, and Revelation 1:20 explains that these seven stars are the angels of the seven churches. Such a truth is explained within the Bible itself, and there’s no need for outside researchers to interpret the symbolism.

Do Not Believe in Private Interpretations

No prophecy of the scripture is of private interpretation, but of divine inspiration, as stated in 2 Peter 1:20. The Bible presents a complete picture and interprets itself. Researchers who claim to have found a secret code in the Torah provide opinions or thinking that are not based on divine inspiration, leading people to false beliefs. The Bible says in Isaiah 28:13, 'That they may go and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.'

Men who try to tell you that they have found their own secret code in the Bible will fall backward in error and will be caught in their own false belief. No one should get caught up in this false belief of secret codes revealed by researchers; God’s truth is revealed by His Spirit to those who obey Him.

Conclusion

Always keep in mind that the Bible interprets itself and does not need any man’s interpretation. Pursue truth based on divine revelation rather than man-made interpretations. Trust in the Holy Spirit's guidance as you study the Torah and the rest of the Bible, and let truth unfold in your heart.
