For the audience in this situation, looking for immediate employment opportunities in data science is a viable and often more advantageous route. As you seek positions now, focus on roles that align with your current educational background and skills. Research-oriented positions in AI can be particularly attractive, especially given the current boom in AI and machine learning.
In conclusion, while a PhD can offer additional benefits in certain research and high-level positions, a MSc followed by immediate employment in data science can lead to a fulfilling and financially sound career. The key is to align your career path with your personal goals and the current job market demands.
