Self-Discipline: The Crux of an Easy Yet Hard Everyday Activity

Deleting unnecessary tasks without a second thought is an easy activity for most people. However, for myself, these simple tasks present a significant challenge. Striving to adhere to a structured daily routine is a perennial struggle, precisely because it seems so straightforward yet so overwhelmingly difficult. I aspire to create and follow a routine that maximizes productivity and personal development. Unfortunately, putting this routine into practice is harder than it looks.

Setting a Structured Daily Routine

To start my day, I aim to wake up at 6 AM and engage in 20 minutes of exercise to kickstart my day. Following this, I freshen up and have breakfast within the next 45 minutes, ensuring I refuel with balanced and nutritious options. I allocate an additional 15 minutes to read 10 pages from a book, indulging in the enriching experience of reading and learning. Listening to motivational and inspirational audios and videos for approximately one hour fuels my spirit and drives my motivation throughout the day. I then dedicate two hours to self-improvement activities such as learning new skills and enhancing my personal growth. After clocking in at office around 10 AM, I work through standard office hours. Returning home at 8 PM, I relax by having tea, read, and spend quality time with my family before dinner. Following this, I allocate one hour to learn a new skill, and finally, I write a blog post that is more than 500 words. This is my ideal routine, but alas, it remains elusive. One common issue I face is setting the alarm for 6 AM, often leading to a 9:30 AM start. Additionally, I struggle to complete my last night's activities, such as learning a new skill or writing a blog.

Home Management: A Challenging Task

/Home management is another apparently simple yet incredibly daunting task for me. Keeping the house neat and clean is either delegated or managed by my husband, highlighting my own hesitance and aversion to such responsibilities. Maintaining order and tidiness within the household often feels like an insurmountable challenge, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and disorganized.

Struggles with Basic Tasks

My daily life is peppered with simple activities that perplex me:

Handwriting

Writing legibly is a task that seems insurmountable. Despite trying and practicing consistently, my handwriting remains illegible and difficult to read. Many might label this as laziness, but the issue lies in the physical mechanics of my hand, which struggles to control the pen. This discomfort is exacerbated by the need to think and organize my thoughts in a structured manner. Without a quiet and undisturbed environment, my focus wavers, leading to further deterioration of my handwriting. Achieving a neat and legible script requires immense patience, time, and a serene atmosphere.

Tying Shoelaces

Tying shoelaces has present a unique, and occasionally amusing, challenge. I've never managed to tie them conventionally, leading to the odd sight of laces hidden inside my jeans or trousers. Frustrated and creative, I've adopted an unconventional solution of tying my shoes to my ankles. While this method works, it's certainly a topic of conversation and might leave others perplexed. My reluctance to adopt conventional methods highlights my struggle with basic tasks, even those simple enough for others.

In conclusion, adhering to a structured routine, managing my home, and performing seemingly basic tasks such as handwriting and shoelace tying—activities that many take for granted—pose significant challenges for me. However, by acknowledging these difficulties and seeking solutions, we can transform these hurdles into opportunities for growth and self-improvement. As the saying goes, consistency and perseverance are the keys to mastering any skill, including our daily routines.
