Easily Change Your Desktop Background Every Day

Changing your desktop background every day is a simple way to keep your workspace fresh and visually appealing. Depending on the operating system you're using, there are several methods to achieve this. In this article, we will guide you through the process on both Windows 10 and macOS.

Windows 10

Here are the steps to change your desktop background using both the settings menu and third-party software:

Using Settings

Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. Go to the Background section. Under Background select Slideshow from the drop-down menu. Click Browse to select a folder containing the images you want to use. Set the Change picture every option to 1 day or your preferred duration. If you want to randomize the images, ensure the Shuffle option is checked.

Alternative Method—Using Third-Party Software

Install applications like Wallpaper Engine or Bing Wallpaper which can automatically change your wallpaper daily with new images. Follow the software's instructions to set your preferred images and ensure the wallpaper changes daily.

macOS

To change your desktop background on macOS, follow these steps:

Using System Preferences

Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences. Click on Desktop Screen Saver. In the Desktop tab, choose a folder with your desired wallpapers. Check the box for Change picture and select Every day from the drop-down menu. For a random order, select Random order.

Alternative Method—Using Automator

Open Automator and create a new Application. Add the Get Specified Finder Items action and choose your wallpaper images. Add the Set Desktop Picture action. Save the Automator app and schedule it using Calendar to run daily.

Easy to do?
Hit the Windows key and type as much of the word “wallpaper” as you need for autofill to come up with “Choose your desktop background” the background control panel. As you can see, it only took two letters for me.

Here is the resulting window. Under “Background” choose Slideshow then select “Browse” to “Choose albums for your slideshow” which really means to choose a folder containing the jpegs you want for your backgrounds. I have chosen a folder containing screenshots of games I have played.

Under “Change picture every” which I have already selected so you can see the full range of options available, choose “1 day”. That’s it. You’re done. Enjoy.
