Earth-Based Hydrogen Production

In addition to cosmic and stellar processes, hydrogen is also produced on Earth through natural and artificial means. Some of the common methods include:

Electrolysis of Water: This method involves passing an electric current through water, splitting it into hydrogen and oxygen. It is a well-known and widely practiced technique for producing hydrogen. Steam Methane Reforming: This process involves the reaction of natural gas, primarily methane, with steam to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. This method is extensively used in the industrial sector. Biomass Gasification: Organic materials are converted into hydrogen and other gases through high-temperature processes. This method is gaining popularity due to its sustainable nature.

The Abundance of Hydrogen in the Universe

Despite the fusion of hydrogen into helium in countless stars over billions of years, hydrogen continues to make up approximately 75% of the detectable content of the universe. This high abundance is a testament to its fundamental role in the cosmos.
