How to Remove Devices from Find My Phone and Find My Mac

Managing your connected devices through Find My Phone and Find My Mac is a convenient feature. However, there may be times when you need to remove a device from your iCloud account. This guide will walk you through the process of removing devices from Find My iPhone, Find My iPad, Find My Mac, and Find My Apple Watch. Follow the step-by-step instructions to easily remove devices that you no longer own or need to track.

Method 1: Disabling Find My iPhone on an iPhone or iPad

If you want to remove Find My iPhone from a device you still own and use:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap on your name at the top of the screen. Tap iCloud. Scroll down and tap Find My iPhone. Slide the toggle switch to turn off the feature.

Note: This method is for devices you still use and need to keep the feature enabled.

Method 2: Removing a Device You No Longer Own Using a Computer

If you no longer own the device and want to remove it from your iCloud account:

Sign into iCloud. Click on Find iPhone (the icon looks like a green radar map). Click All Devices at the top-center of the screen. Select the device you want to remove and enter your Apple ID password. Click Remove from Account. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal. If prompted, sign in with the Apple ID you used with that device. Do not enter a phone number or message unless your device is missing.

Note: If the device is not on, or it's offline, the process will start the next time it connects to the internet.

Method 3: Removing a Device You No Longer Own Using an iPhone/iPad

If you have an iPhone or iPad and want to remove a device:

Open Find iPhone on your iPhone or iPad. Make sure you are signed in using the same Apple ID you used with the device you want to remove. If not, tap on the acct icon at the top-right corner and select the correct Apple ID. Tap the device you want to remove on the list. Tap the device on the map below. If zoomed, tap the device again. Tap Remove from Account. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal.

Note: If you don't see this option, you will need to tap the trash icon at the bottom-right corner and follow the on-screen instructions to delete the data remotely. The process will start the next time the device connects to the internet.

Method 4: Disabling Find My Mac

If you want to stop tracking your Mac's location:

Click on the menu at the top-left corner of your Mac's home screen. Select System Preferences. Click on iCloud. Uncheck the Find My Mac option. A password pop-up will appear. Enter your Apple ID password and click Continue.

Conclusion: By following the above methods, you can easily remove any device from your Find My Phone or Find My Mac account. Ensure you take the necessary steps to protect your personal information and preserve the privacy of your devices.
