The last time I upgraded BIOS, I bricked a laptop. I left the laptop upgrading and when I came back a few hours later, it would not work. I suspect that someone came along and tripped on the power cable and stopped the upgrade process prematurely. With my considerable knowledge, I couldn’t recover it. The only option was to replace the firmware chip. Since it was an old laptop, this would be difficult to do.
