Is a Career in Computer Science Worth It? Unveiling the Truth
No, no, and no!
Why not?
Taking a look at the job descriptions for 10 IT jobs and you will find that each one has different requirements:
Specific industry experience Specific tool experience that only applies to specific industries: "must have used tool X for Y years in industry Z" Need specific version of tool experience: "only want applicants with version 3 experience" Another list of arbitrary skill sets experiences that vary from one job to the next. So, you customize/fabricate a resume to meet all the requirements of that particular job and send it. Then, the next job has completely different requirements - despite using the technologies you're already familiar with!
As laughable as it sounds, could you imagine a dentist who is prohibited from practicing because a new drill bit has just come out?
The lesson to learn: stay away from this field. Instead, go into a standardized profession where you can learn the subject material once!
Conversely, if you are in IT, you are a perpetual student. Honestly, if I counted all the hours and effort I spent on learning in IT, I could have been a medical doctor!
