One of the most significant improvements will be the end of droughts caused by soot and smog rather than warming. While global warming will still occur, its rate of increase will stabilize. This stabilization directly impacts the reduction in respiratory diseases linked to air pollution, leading to substantial improvements in public health.

The Uncertain Future of Heavy Transport

Issues like the future of heavy trucks and jet aircraft remain uncertain. There are indications that hydrocarbon fuels used in these vehicles could be chemically identical to today’s fossil fuels, but sourced from different means. Alternatively, breakthroughs in alternative fuels may yet surprise us. The transition to predominately solar and wind energy is a long-term process, inevitably spanning several decades.
