Navigating the Challenges of MHT-CET 2020: A Student's Journey

Completing one's Maharashtra Board 12th exams in 2020 was a significant milestone for me. However, just as I was preparing for the MHT-CET, the global pandemic threw a wrench into my plans. This article chronicles my journey through the unexpected events and the strategies I employed to prepare for my entrance exam.

The Impact of the Pandemic on Exam Preparation

The rigorous study schedule for MHT-CET was postponed due to the sudden onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The classes I attended for the exam preparation were forced to close down, and the delay in announcing the exam dates left me in a state of uncertainty.

Initially, I relied on my board exam results for a ranking process that was expected to be implementation. Disillusioned by the prolonged delay, I discontinued my self-study routine, focusing instead on other priorities.

Government Announcements and the Exam Process

Despite the initial setback, the government reassured us that the MHT-CET would be conducted with all necessary precautions. Over the next few months, there were several rescheduling announcements, adding to the anxiety. Finally, after a couple of extensions, the exam date was set.

When the exam date approached, I realized how far behind I was in terms of revisiting and refreshing my notes. It took me nearly 15 days to recollect my concepts in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. In the subsequent five days, I completed a single revision of all three subjects.

The MHT-CET exam that I took was predominantly Medical and did not include Mathematics. Initially, I participated with a lack of interest but found inspiration notably in the Physics and Chemistry sections. This led me to reevaluate my approach to the exam and Mathematics.

A Strategy for Redemption

I had 15 days left to prepare for the Mathematics section. Starting from scratch, I worked through the textbooks line by line, repeating this process twice. Despite my efforts, I fell short of the desired percentile.

Despite the challenges, I managed to secure a 91.80 percentile in the MHT-CET. This outcome, though not in the top tier, was a testament to the resilience and determination I displayed during the exam preparation period and rescheduled exam.

Conclusion: A New Chapter

At present, I am enrolled in Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology in Pune, pursuing Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering). Looking back, every experience shapes us and provides valuable lessons. My journey through MHT-CET 2020 has taught me the importance of adaptability, persistence, and embracing opportunities that come our way.

For any students facing similar challenges in preparing for their entrance exams, remember that every obstacle is a stepping stone on your path to success. Stay resilient and keep honing your skills. Good luck!
