Odins Encounters with the Celestials: A Comprehensive Overview
Was Odin aware of the Existence of the Celestials?
Yes, Odin was indeed aware of the Celestials, as he had several encounters with them. These encounters ranged from ancient battles to more recent conflicts, showcasing the magnitude of these cosmic entities and Odin's role in them.
First Encounter: The First Host
Odin's first recorded encounter with the Celestials occurred approximately a million years ago. During this time, the First Host arrived on Earth, conducting experiments that led to the creation of Eternals and Deviants. One of the Celestials, infected by cosmic parasites (the Holder), turned into the first Dark Celestial. This Dark Celestial engaged in combat with the Avengers of that era, including Odin. Despite his involvement, the Celestials emerged victorious.
When the Celestials returned in greater numbers, the Avengers continued their fight. However, a collection of Earthly deities known as the Sky-Fathers (including Odin, Zeus, and Vishnu) attempted to confront the Celestials directly. These Sky-Fathers were also defeated by Arishem the Judge, a single Celestial entity.
Second Encounter: The Third Host
Centuries later, in what is roughly a thousand years ago, the Third Host of the Celestials arrived on Earth again. This time, the Celestials were conducting further experiments, leaving the various Earthly pantheons feeling threatened. Led by Odin, Zeus, and Vishnu, the Sky-Fathers tried to stop the Celestials. Unfortunately, their efforts were again thwarted, this time by the overwhelming power of Arishem the Judge.
Third Encounter: The Fourth Host and the Destroyer Armor
The next major encounter between Odin and the Celestials took place in the 20th century. The Fourth Host of the Celestials arrived on Earth, this time to determine whether humanity should be allowed to continue existing. Recognizing his limitations against such powerful beings, Odin constructed the Destroyer Armor. This armor, made from enchanted metal, was stronger than the indestructible Uru metal found in Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. The armor contained the combined essence of all Asgardians, excluding Thor, and Odin wielded the powerful Odin Sword (Staff).
Armed with the Destroyer Armor and the Odin Sword, Odin engaged the Celestials in a fierce battle. However, despite his preparations, the Celestials once again emerged victorious, demonstrating their vast superiority over even the mightiest of deities.
Theoretical Insights on the Infinity Stones
Some theories suggest that Odin played a significant role in safeguarding the Infinity Stones. After his encounters with the Celestials, Odin is said to have hidden the Infinity Stones, with the Eternals holding the Mind Stone. Thanos is believed to have stolen this stone later.
Odin is also thought to have the Space Stone. Additionally, his father hid the Reality Stone, which the Celestials were unable to locate. The Time Stone is said to be in Agamotto, protected by the Eye of Agamotto. Finally, the Soul Stone is believed to be on Vormir, a desolate and ominous location.
What This Means for the Infinity Saga
Odin's involvement with the Celestials, combined with his theoretical control over the Infinity Stones, adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. It suggests that, despite his defeat, Odin’s influence and hidden power could play a crucial role in the overall storyline, as seen in Marvel's comics and films.
