PS4: The Ultimate Gaming Console or Xbox One?
PS4: The Ultimate Gaming Console or Xbox One?
When it comes to choosing between a PS4 and an Xbox One, you might wonder which console to choose. After carefully considering my options, I opted for a PS4 Pro, and I'm excited to share why I made this choice.
More Sold Consoles and Better Exclusives
Firstly, more PS4 consoles have been sold globally. This alone can be a compelling reason to consider the PS4, as it often translates to more resources and better support in terms of content and updates. Additionally, the PS4 offers a broader range of exclusives that made it slightly more appealing to me. My top picks include Bloodborne, Nioh, and Nier: Automata.
Performance and Multiplatform Gaming
On a more practical note, PS4 delivers better performance for multiplatform games. Unlike the Xbox One, which runs slightly lower frame rates for certain games, the PS4 ensures a smoother and more consistent gaming experience. While theresolution difference between 900p and 1080p might not be a significant factor for everyone, the performance aspect is crucial for me. Therefore, I decided to buy all my multiplatform titles on the PS4, as it allows me to start building a comprehensive games library more easily.
The Xbox One Scorpio Launch
Another reason for choosing the PS4 was the upcoming launch of the Xbox One Scorpio. While I anticipated it, the launch time coincides with the holiday season, making it a risky investment. By acquiring a PS4 Pro in the beginning of the year, I can wait and see if the Scorpio offers a substantial improvement. If it does, then the Scorpio might be worth the upgrade, but if not, I opted to stay with the PS4, which already has a robust library of exclusive games and better hardware.
Controller Design and Gameplay
Lastly, one element that surprised me was the design of the PS4 controller. The layout and feel of the controller are far from optimal and, in my opinion, were poor choices in design. The new controller lacks the ergonomics and comfort provided by controllers from earlier consoles like the Wii U, making it a less appealing choice for a gaming experience.
When deciding between the consoles, my advice is to choose the one with the exclusives you prefer, or the one with which your friends have the most games. Sharing games and playing together are key factors in the gaming community.
PS4 Pro: The Current Leader in Gaming Power
Currently, the PS4 Pro holds the upper hand in terms of processing power. Providing unmatched performance, the PS4 Pro makes every game look beautiful and smooth. While we may see a contender in the form of the upcoming Xbox One Scorpio, the PS4 Pro remains the leader for now. Here are some details on why the PS4 Pro stands out:
Console Exclusives
Last of Us: This game is a masterpiece with an incredible storyline, stunning visuals, and a gripping gameplay. It's a must-play for anyone and everyone. The upcoming sequel is highly anticipated! God of War: The Kratos experience is legendary with its intense action and graphic visuals. God of War is a game that will make even hardcore gamers and gore fans hook#8217;d for life. Uncharted: Despite being considered a copy of Tomb Raider, the Uncharted series has become a sensation with MIND-BLOWING visuals, epic game physics, and a fantastic storyline. It's a must-play! The Last Guardian: A game in development for over 10 years, The Last Guardian offers a peaceful and calming experience. Although it's still being refined, it's visually stunning and a great choice for a peaceful gaming experience. Horizon Zero Dawn: Released in March, Horizon Zero Dawn quickly became a must-have exclusive for PlayStation with its immersive gameplay and stunning visuals. While I couldn't buy it due to its high price, I highly recommend it to anyone with a valid gaming budget.Virtual Reality (VR)
Finally, let's talk about Virtual Reality (VR). While Microsoft is just entering the VR realm, Sony has already established a robust presence with the PS VR. If you're interested in the VR experience, the PS VR offers a large library of games, including titles like Resident Evil 7 and Batman Arkham VR. Although the initial cost of the PS VR is high, the experience is truly unforgettable.
So, is the PS4 the ultimate gaming console? For me, it certainly is, and I would highly recommend it for the exclusives and performance it offers. As the Xbox One Scorpio nears its launch, the PS4 Pro remains a personal favorite for now.
