The idea of a group of ninjas easily defeating a platoon of soldiers as portrayed in movies like American Ninja is highly dramatized and not reflective of real-world combat dynamics. Here are some factors to consider:

Their skills included hand-to-hand combat, the use of various weapons, and tactics for infiltration and evasion. In contrast, modern soldiers undergo extensive training in various combat scenarios, including tactics, teamwork, and the use of firearms and heavy weaponry. They are trained to operate as a unit, which is crucial in combat situations.

Numbers and Equipment

A platoon typically consists of around 30 to 50 soldiers, often equipped with firearms, body armor, and tactical gear. The sheer number and firepower of soldiers would pose a significant advantage. I didn’t see the movie, but here is my opinion. A platoon is usually comprised of about 40 people. If you had a group of say 10 experts in the martial art of ninjutsu, that would mean they would have to take out 4 soldiers for each ninja. This could theoretically be done. All of this would be contingent on the following factors: time of day, what kind of training the soldiers in the platoon had (guerilla spec-ops or normal grunts), what type of weapons the ninja had, and the element of surprise.

Ninjas are not what people think or see in the movies. They don’t go flying through the air, and they are not superhuman. To me, the ultimate ninja would be the ultimate guerilla fighter. They would use stealth, strength, and all weapons at their disposal. So basically, they would be similar to spec-ops teams like the Navy Seals, with a leaning more towards the quiet approach or stealthy approach. The Apache warriors used this approach also, sometimes burying themselves in the sand and waiting for an army patrol for hours, completely surprising them and catching them off-guard and killing all in the process.

So yes, if the group you called ninjas were equipped with any weapons they wanted, including traditional and modern weapons, including compact arms like suppressed handguns of sufficient caliber, coupled with the stealth, agility, and strategic capabilities incorporated in ninjutsu training, they could probably get the job done. I will say as one last thought that there is an element of spirituality or an increased level of consciousness associated with any type of esoteric philosophy or martial art that would greatly increase their situational awareness and give them an edge.
