Reflecting on Past Decisions and Future Choices: Lessons from My Journey

In the first-person narrative, I address the question, "If you had to live again knowing what you know now what would you do differently?" Reflecting on my past experiences and choices, I explore how different decisions might have shaped my life and the potential outcomes of those choices.

What I Would Do Differently

Looking back, if I had to live my life again, I would make different decisions. One of the crucial moments was when I finally decided to leave my abusive family and the establishment. Instead of succumbing to the pressures of a life that was not mine to choose, I would have taken bold steps to secure my future. Specifically, I would have invested in Bitcoin in 2013 when I first had the chance. Back then, I had 3 BTC, and I even researched it at its peak, but I never pursued it further. Unfortunately, one of my classmates mined Litecoin and then Ethereum. I swapped some of my BTC into Ethereum a year before the Bitcoin bubble burst, and I dropped out of high school in October 2015, just before the bursting. I would have told my dad and used this opportunity to sell my coins when the market exploded, then I would have fled to Morocco or Sweden with the profits.

Lessons from My Life Experiences

Though hindsight is 20/20, one cannot change the past. My earlier self would have cared more about her future and done better academically, leading to a more self-sufficient life. I doubt I would have gotten married or had children, as these are central to my life. Moreover, my higher education and career paths would have been different, though perhaps even more challenging. Knowledge is powerful, but so is optimism and adaptability. I am proud of and happy with the choices I've made to this day.

Reflecting on the narrative of my life, it was never truly mine. For 18 years, significant decisions were made for me, and I rebelled. Despite my mistakes, my misfortunes led me to where I am now, at the age of 70. If I had taken different paths in the past, my current situation might not have been so fulfilling. In conclusion, why risk changing a life that is already successful?

Embracing the Present

Many possibilities come to mind, but knowing what I know now, I believe the best course of action is to embrace who I am now. The kid I was would likely not have the same opportunities. However, I am certain that if given the chance again, I would take different paths in life to explore other possibilities.

Thinking about past and future, one can't help but wonder, why would anyone want to live the same life twice? Instead, exploring different paths and embracing the present can bring a sense of fulfillment and joy to life. The next time you feel the urge to change your life, consider the benefits of staying true to who you are now and the potential journeys you might not have experienced otherwise.
