Understanding the Salary Structure for MEAL Team Leader at Solidarités International Nigeria

Solidarités International is a humanitarian organization that operates in challenging environments. The organization is committed to not only delivering essential services but also acknowledges the increasing demands on its workforce. As such, they have adjusted their salary scales and created new career levels to recognize the technical complexity and responsibilities of their employees.

Salary Levels Across Different Roles

Within Solidarités International, the salary structure for different positions varies significantly, reflecting the nature of experience, technical knowledge, and responsibilities involved in each role. Here’s a breakdown of the salaries:

Country Director (CD): Starting salary of 3300 euros, with a maximum of 5500 euros. Field Coordinator (nCD Assistant): Starting salary of 2860 euros, with a maximum of 5000 euros. Technical Coordinators: Support and programme coordinator positions start at 2640 euros, with a maximum of 4800 euros. Coordination Assistant / Technical Referents / Regional Programmes Manager: Starting salary of 2400 euros with a maximum of 4600 euros. Base Manager: Starting salary of 2200 euros, with a maximum of 4400 euros. Base Positions (Log-admin-Programme Manager and Grant Manager): Starting salary of 1980 euros, with a maximum of 4180 euros. Entry Positions (Coordination Support, Activity Managers): Starting salary of 1600 euros, with a maximum of 3760 euros.

The structure of these contracts is typically fixed-term, ranging from a few weeks to a year, with the intention of fostering loyalty and meeting specific conditions, especially seniority. Solidarités International strives to develop permanent contracts for field positions, while headquarters employees are generally hired on permanent contracts, even with short-term supports on fixed-term contracts.

Salary Increments Based on Experience

Solidarités International values expertise, seniority, and commitment. As a result, the starting salary is not the final figure. In addition to the base salary, employees accrue benefits based on their experience and commitment:

Experience-Based Increments: 50 euros per year of experience in positions that allowed access to the position held. 100 euros per year of experience on equivalent positions. Seniority Bonus: From the second completed year of their contract, employees benefit from a seniority bonus of 100 euros per month.

For instance, a Country Director who started as a logistician, served as a Logistician-Admin/Base Manager for two years, Field Coordinator for one year, and has been a Country Director in another NGO will receive 3600 euros per month, without considering any seniority experience at Solidarités International.

Another example is a WASH Programme Manager at Solidarités International who transitions to Field Coordinator. Their starting gross salary will be 3025 euros.

Living Allowance (Per Diem)

Field employees receive a per diem, which is a living allowance paid on site in local currency, to cover their food and living expenses.

Solidarités International’s commitment to acknowledging the hard work and dedication of its staff underscores the importance of transparency and fairness in the salary structure. By providing clear guidelines and recognizing the value of experience and commitment, the organization aims to enhance the morale and effectiveness of its workforce.
