Saluting a Flag Officer: Proper Protocol and Etiquette

Place your feet into a 45-degree chevron formation. This means that your feet should be slightly apart, forming a 45-degree angle. This formation helps you maintain a stable and respectful posture.

Hand Positioning

Bringing the Hand Up

Greeting

Whilst bringing your hand up, give the appropriate greeting, such as "Good morning," "Good afternoon," or "Good evening," depending on the time of day. The flag officer or any other officer may return the salute and greet you, but if they do not, there is no need to be concerned.

Saluting With a Straight Edge on Your Hand
