“On long routes, doesn’t give much of problems because you’re riding in top gear and with an average speed maintained,” explains a seasoned rider. “But it might get heated when you ride continuously above 140kmph because the engine will get heated after some time.”

A common experience shared by many riders is the overheating of their Duke 390 2017, which required them to stop and wait for the engine to cool down after maintaining a high speed for an extended period.

“The new one does not heat up a lot like the old one did. Even the old one only had heating issues in the city at lower speeds,” another rider notes. “In short, the faster you go, the cooler the engine stays. It’s only in the stop-and-go traffic you experience a bit of heating.”

To mitigate these heating issues, riders can take measures to stay cool. Wearing full denim pants or even riding pants and shoes can help in certain situations. Additionally, understanding gear selection and maintaining proper oil and coolant levels can further improve heat management.

Service and Maintenance

While the KTM RC 390 is generally a reliable motorcycle, it is important to ensure regular maintenance. Some riders have encountered additional costs and lengthy service procedures, specifically when the older models are involved. The manual and parts costs can be quite high.

“Yes it has issue and when you go for service their label charge and their parts are so much costly compare to others and into that bill I guess they put around 18 GST also,” said a rider who recently underwent service on their old KTM model.

It is advisable to keep track of service costs and inquire about the specific issues and necessary repairs to avoid unexpected financial burdens.
