Understanding the Truth About Paradise and the Role of Jehovah's Witnesses
There is often confusion surrounding the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses (JWs) regarding paradise. Some might mistakenly believe that JWs claim that only they will achieve salvation and enter paradise. However, this is a common misconception. The reality is much more inclusive and based on biblical teachings.
The Inclusive Nature of Paradise According to the Bible
It is important to clarify that the Bible does not support the notion that only Jehovah's Witnesses will enter paradise. In fact, the Bible teaches that all who worshipped and believed in Jehovah from the time of Adam until the death of Jesus, including the faithful worshippers from Mosaic Judaism and Christianity, will be included in the resurrection.
Even those who might not have had the opportunity to know Jehovah due to cultural or geographical barriers are also included in this portrayal. The Bible emphasizes the inclusivity of God's plan, as seen in passages like Romans 3:23-24, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
The Role of Jehovah's Witnesses
Jehovah's Witnesses see themselves as messengers of the good news, not as the sole arbiters of who will enter paradise. They believe that their role is to share the truth of the Bible with others, not to make judgments about who will be saved.
Apart from their preaching work, which has been ongoing for approximately 109 years worldwide, their focus is on living according to God's will. This is based on the biblical principle that “he who does God’s will remains forever” (1 John 2:17). They strive to display the love and kindness of God in their daily lives and hope to meet many of their loved ones who have passed away in heaven.
The Misunderstanding and the Bible’s Teaching
Those who hold the belief that only Jehovah's Witnesses will enter paradise might not have consulted the Bible or relied on misinformation. The Bible does not support such a restrictive interpretation. It encourages a spiritual awakening for all and emphasizes the grace and mercy of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses apply the principle “Do not go beyond the things that are written” (1 Corinthians 4:6), sticking to the biblical teachings that the criteria for salvation are revealed in the scriptures.
Uncertainty and the Final Judgment
While Jehovah's Witnesses do their best to live according to God's will, they acknowledge that there are uncertainties. They accept that some individuals, like small children or those without the ability to choose, may not have had the opportunity to know Jehovah. Likewise, they are open to the possibility that others might be saved at Armageddon.
The Bible teaches that at the end of the great tribulation, Jesus Christ will separate the righteous from the wicked (Matthew 25:31-46). This final judgment is a mystery to all, and only God knows the ultimate fate of every individual. However, Jehovah's Witnesses trust that through grace and God’s mercy, many will be saved.
