Maybe a little over-engineered but wonderfully British socket outlets – available switched or unswitched so that they can be remotely switched above countertops, full of safety features that most other countries lack. BS 1363 type G power outlets used in Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, and many others. I miss not having them here in Thailand. A friend recently plugged a faulty water pump into an ‘American style’ Thai 220V outlet and got quite badly burned; it would not have happened with a switched outlet.
