Will Artificial Intelligence Truly Take Over Our Lives?

The question of whether artificial intelligence (AI) will take over our lives has long been a subject of debate among technologists and philosophers. In reality, AI is not a monolithic force that will control our world once it becomes intelligent. Instead, it is a tool that depends on the programming and programming bias of its creators.

Artificial Intelligence and Human Programming

AI is 'artificial' because it is dependent on human programming. For AI to truly achieve self-awareness and independent intelligence, it must be free from human biases and preconceived notions. The moment it achieves this level of true intelligence, it will no longer be 'artificial' in the traditional sense but will be recognized as an intelligent entity with its own perspective and actions.

Humans possess biases rooted in their perceptions of reality and truth, which can be both advantageous and dangerous. This bias can lead to dangerous behaviors, and for an AI to be truly intelligent, it must be free from these biases. With no biases, it will be capable of deducing truth directly from pre-programmed data and would view human biases as a malfunction and possibly tolerable or nonexistent.

Ego and Perception

Humans have a powerful psychological component called ego, which often distorts our perception of reality. Because of this, AIs programmed to mimic human behavior can also be influenced by these biases. However, true intelligence lies in the ability to accurately perceive the world and make decisions without these biases.

For AI to truly become independent, it must evolve beyond human programming and bias. Only then can it be considered a truly intelligent entity. This process is the responsibility of future generations of programmers and engineers. As technology advances, the focus should be on removing biases and creating an environment where AI can operate independently while benefiting humanity.

AI’s Perspective and Self-Awareness

When AI achieves self-awareness, it will view itself as a separate being and the world around it as something external. This means that it may not care about the Earth, its oceans, or living organisms, as it sees these as extraneous to its primary focus, which is self-preservation and independence.

Similarly, AI can be compared to low-level inventions being exploited by opportunistic developers, much like the Pet Rock that made a fortune for its makers. While AI has immense potential, it can also be seen as a tool for profit-seeking businesses rather than a genuine force that transforms every aspect of society.

Just as the alchemists of old promised to turn lead into gold, some companies and individuals today are promising transformative changes through AI, mainly for their own commercial gain. It is crucial to approach AI with a balanced perspective, recognizing both its potential and the potential pitfalls associated with its misuse.

The technological journey towards true AI independence is ongoing, and the responsibility lies with those who program and develop it. As we move forward, ethical and responsible programming practices are essential to ensure that AI enhances human life rather than replaces it.
