Ethereum's Evolution and My Favorite Technological Invention
Introduction
In my journey through the realm of technology, two pivotal moments stand out: my invention – the Portable Laser Disintegrator (PLD), and my foray into the world of Ethereum. Both have significantly shaped my perspectives on innovation and personal finance.
My Favorite Invention: The Portable Laser Disintegrator (PLD)
Among various inventions, my favorite is the Portable Laser Disintegrator (PLD). While it’s not something I’ve yet brought to full implementation, it captures my imagination. The PLD could slash tires remotely, addressing the nuisance of reckless drivers in residential areas. It has versatile accessories ranging from merely deflating tires to leaving a soapy scrawling message on windshields, all controlled remotely without needing direct line-of-sight. Another feature could reward good behavior by filling gas tanks.
The PLD showcases the potential of remote control and recognition technologies. Imagine being able to alter behavior not just with force, but through messages or convenience. This innovation, coupled with its market potential, makes it an exciting concept to imagine.
Investment Journey and Ethical Considering
About a decade ago, I had the opportunity to invest in Ethereum during a conference in Denver, Colorado. It was a transformative experience that ignited a deeper interest in blockchain technology. What initially sparked my interest was the promise of Ethereum blockchain to revolutionize the music industry, allowing artists to have more control over their music royalties through smart contracts. This technology offered a direct and efficient way for artists to manage their finances and payments, aligning with the project's core principles of decentralization and self-sovereignty.
My enthusiasm didn't wane over the years. However, the 2017 market crash brought about great challenges. I found myself heavily investing in Ethereum, putting nearly all my income into it. At the time, Ethereum was valued around $100, which meant significant potential for growth. This was undoubtedly a risky move, as many experts advise only to invest money that can be lost without causing financial distress.
Thankfully, my initial investments paid off in the longer term. By the time I had reached an eight-figure net worth, much of it was attributed to Ethereum. While I do not feel like I have 'made it' in the grand scheme of things, given the vast success of other individuals in the cryptosphere, I am deeply grateful for the journey and the opportunities it has presented.
Reflecting on both the PLD and the journey with Ethereum, it becomes clear that technology has the power to either bring about localized change with an emphasis on individual behavior, or it can participate in transforming the global financial landscape. Both paths are fascinating, each with its unique set of ethical considerations and rationales.
